Wednesday, Oct. 22nd – update

Hi Everyone!

This morning, I was awakened by pain in my abdomen. I knew that this was not a full blown labor contraction, because when I had those with Zayveon, I thought that my body was going to split in two. I also knew that these were not Braxton Hicks, because the pain was different. Well, I think that I am in stage one of labor – the latent phase. What does that mean??

First Stage of Labor

The first stage of labor begins with the onset of labor until the cervix is completely dilated to 10 centimeters. The first stage of labor averages 10 to 12 hours for first time moms and 6 to 8 hours for moms who have given birth before. The first stage of labor can be divided further into phases: the latent phase, the active phase, and the transition phase.
Latent phase

The latent phase of the first stage of labor describes the period of early labor when a woman first begins to dilate. The contractions are usually mild starting at 5 to 10 minutes apart and gradually increasing in strength, duration, and frequency. The latent phase of labor lasts around eight hours for first time moms and can be considerably shorter in moms who have given birth before. During the latent phase your cervix will begin to dilate and efface. At the end of the latent phase you will reach 3 to 4 centimeters. You may feel excited and anxious.

I am writing down the times that I have the contractions so that I can keep up with it for myself and my doctor. I sent her an email this morning, letting her know what was happening, but I have not heard back from her yet. Basically, I wanted to know that if this continued into tomorrow morning, when I am scheduled for a c/s, would I still have it, or would I be allowed to labor. I’ll update when I find out!!

Still no baby :)

Hi Everyone!

For those of you that read this blog, I just wanted to let you know that Thulani will probably be born on Thursday, Oct. 23rd via C/S. It will be a good day because we will finally be able to meet our new little one.

I am going okay body wise. I have some swelling in my hands and feet, a few Braxton Hicks contractions here and there, but otherwise, I am fine.

I will post pictures after the baby is born!

The Jelly Monster!!

Hi Everyone!
Here is a picture that was taken of Zayveon yesterday at breakfast. He loves to have toast with jelly! I had to take a picture of him thoroughly enjoying himself! Please excuse the boxes in the background. Just pay those no attention…..

We have 8 more days until Thulani’s due date! I took some pictures of myself this morning because I don’t have very many of me this pregnancy actually showing my belly.
